Leeds League
Farsley Chess Club will be entering a team into the Leeds Chess Association Chess League this season, which typically begins in early October. League matches are held on Wednesday evenings and follow a format similar to that of the English Premier League. Half of the matches will be played at home, while the other half will be away. Away matches take place at various venues, including Rose Forgrove in Roundhay, Alwoodley, and Leeds University. Once the team list is finalised, I will update this page with the details.
Matches in the Leeds Chess League begin at 7:00 PM, so I recommend arriving at the venue about 15 minutes beforehand. It’s also a good idea to purchase a drink or some food at the venue to support the hosts who provide us with the chess facilities. This helps ensure we maintain good relationships and avoid the risk of losing access to venues in the future.
All chess matches are played with a clock, with each player receiving 80 minutes of time, plus a 10-second increment for each move. To participate in the league, you must be a member of the English Chess Federation (ECF), prices start at £20 per year. For more information, please click here.
