🧮 Pairing Method

This tournament follows the official FIDE Swiss System for pairings. You can read more about how this system works here.

Please note that due to an oversight, all higher-rated players were assigned White in Round 1, when colours should have been alternated more evenly. I’ll do my best to balance colour assignments in future rounds to ensure fairness and to avoid anyone playing with the same colour three times in a row.

Thanks for your understanding!

In each pairing, the player listed on the left has White, and the player on the right has Black.

📅 Game Arrangements

  • The time controls are 25+5 which is 25 minutes each, plus a 5 second increment with each move.

  • White is responsible for contacting their opponent to arrange a mutually convenient date and time for the match.

  • All Round 1 games must be completed by Sunday, 6th July 2025. Sooner is better, as it allows time to process results and prepare the Round 2 draw.

  • Once a date and time are agreed, the White player must email Farsley Chess Club at farsleychessclub@gmail.com to confirm the scheduled match.

🕹️ Match Procedure

  • At the agreed time, White should send the challenge to Black on chess.com.

  • Matches must be played without any external assistance. This means:

    • No books, databases, engines, software, or help from others.

    • Treat the game as you would an over-the-board league match.

  • Fair play is essential. Cheating of any kind is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

Submitting Results

Once your game is complete, both players should email the result to farsleychessclub@gmail.com. Results will be updated on this page shortly after confirmation.

I'm also downloading the PGN's of all games played, with a view to showcasing the best ones here. This will allow other players to view, learn from, and enjoy standout performances throughout the tournament.
